The author was born on 18 July 1979 in Vilkaviškis district. In 1997 she completed secondary education at Vilkaviškis “Aušra“ secondary school.

Between 1997-2002 she studied at the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences. In 2002, she graduated with a BA degree in Lithuanian studies. Since 2002, Daina has been working at Pilviškiai “Santaka“ gymnasium in Vilkaviškis disctrict as a teacher of Lithuanian language and literature.

Her first short stories appeared in 1997 in “Literatūra ir menas“ and in 1998 and 1999 in the magazine “Metai“.

In 2000, the Lithuanian Writers’ Association published the first collection of her short stories, entitled “Drožlės“ (“Wood Shavings“), part of the series “First book“ - prose book category.

Between 2005-2015, Oposkaitė’s works appeared in literary and cultural publications. Her short stories and essays were published by “Šiaurės Atėnai“, “Literatūra ir menas“, “Nemunas“, “Metai“. Her book reviews and pieces of literary criticism appeared in “Šiaurės Atėnai“. Overall during that period over 30 publications by the author appeared in various periodicals (reviews, essays and short stories). 

In 2014, Opolskaitė participated in the literary competition for Lithuanian adolescents and young adults held by the publishing house “Alma littera“. In 2015, “Alma littera“ published her novelette for teenagers “Eksperimentas gyventi“ (“An Experiment to Live“). That same year the book was selected for the “Book of the Year 2015“ competition in the adolescents and young adults literature category.

In 2016, “Alma littera“ published Opolskaitė’s book for adolescents, entitled “Ir vienąkart, Riči“ (“And Once, Riči“) which went on win the best book award in the Adolescents and young adults competition in 2016 and was awarded the title of the “Book for Adolescents of the Year 2017“.

For her creative work for children and adolescents, Daina Opolskaitė received the Children’s Literature Prize from the Ministry of Education and Science of Lithuania in 2016.

2018 saw the release of her third novel for young adults “Užraktas“ (“The Fastener“) published by “Tyto alba“).

“Tyto alba“ published her second collection of short stories “Dienų piramidės“ (“Pyramids of Days“) in 2019.
